Your cooking lesson starts on the walk to the host’s home, when your guide distils local folklore as well as the many centuries of traditions and recipes, starting from the interpretation of a big local mosaic.
The objective of this experience is to learn to prepare some of the traditional dishes of the island with a local family that still keeps to the time-honoured methods handed down over countless generations.
Everyone joins in the preparation of the meal, from the first course to the dessert. Some of the ingredients will be sourced directly from the family’s garden and you will join in that, too.
Prepare homemade pasta, like tagliatelle, delicious parmigiana made with eggplant, the all-important ragu or sauce, and a traditional Neapolitan dessert.
Cooking is a joy, not hard work, and your experience is enhanced by sipping an aperitivo, made by the family and poured directly from barrels in the family’s cellar.
Once the food is ready, everyone gathers around the table to enjoy their work, the meal and the company, just like any typical Italian Sunday afternoon. And when the digestivo comes to the table, so, too, does the family photo album along with stories of the members of their family tree.
